PAM Award - Commendation
Public and Institutional

Project Description

This 1,000-capacity multi-purpose hall is designed for exhibitions, events, and community activities, benefiting the community with a versatile space. It features cafés, a musolla, an auditorium, and a seminar room for added convenience. Focusing on sustainability, the design applies green elements and strategies to reduce environmental impact. Built with durable, climate-resistant materials, it balances a ‘down-to-earth’ aesthetic with functionality, aligning with the client’s vision while staying within budget.

Dewan Konvensyen Bukit Raja exemplifies sustainable and culturally inspired architecture, integrating passive and active green strategies. Its optimal east-west orientation minimizes heat gain, complemented by natural ventilation and rainwater harvesting systems to enhance efficiency. The facade design draws from traditional Mashrabiya screening and historical motifs, paying homage to the heritage of Klang while ensuring functionality in shading and ventilation. Repurposed materials, such as timber ceilings, contribute to aesthetic sustainability. With dedicated bicycle facilities promoting green mobility, the project has earned a provisional Green Building Index (GBI) rating. This project stands as a testament to innovative, environmentally responsible, and culturally significant design, shaping a future where tradition and sustainability coexist harmoniously
