Single Residential

Project Description

This three-storey private residence in Kota Damansara is designed on a modest angular plot. The site’s unique shape inspired a design with fluid, blurred edges that integrate indoor and outdoor spaces. The ground floor features large openings and glass elements, creating transparency and ensuring a seamless connection between interior and exterior. This approach maximizes the limited footprint while fulfilling the client’s brief for spaces that support hosting gatherings and offer views of the family’s dogs roaming freely outdoor. The design prioritizes comfort, adaptability, and enhances the relationship with the surrounding landscape, fostering a harmonious living environment.

To integrate indoor and outdoor spaces, the design seeks to establish a contrast between lightness on the bottom and a more solid, anchored upper volume. The ground floor is fully glazed, allowing for uninterrupted views and a seamless connection with the landscape, while the upper portion is defined by a robust, solid form, giving rise to the "Float-Box House" concept. This design approach highlights the purity of form, with the skeletal structure dictating the building's composition. The upper volume introduces a dynamic play of subtraction and addition, where carefully considered voids and projections sculpt the space, adding depth and spatial complexity. These architectural interventions promote a sense of openness and transparency, while the strategic placement of private areas ensures a careful balance between public and intimate spaces. The building's form is carefully crafted to encourage exploration, while maintaining a cohesive relationship between the interior and exterior, enhancing the user’s experience.
