Iskandar Malaysia Youth Hub - TMIYC

Iskandar Malaysia Youth Hub (TMIYC) is an initiative by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority to catalyse youth entrepreneurship and placemaking in Iskandar Malaysia. Located within a 40-acre masterplan in Iskandar Puteri, the 1,517-square-metre development comprises single-storey commercial pavilions for retail, food and beverage, offices and creative uses. Bold rectilinear forms, raw industrial textures and vibrant accents define the architecture. Flexible event spaces, art gardens, food-truck courts and an accessible roof support commercial and social interaction, while a five-storey observation tower anchors the hub as a landmark connected to the Velodrome and EduCity campuses, strengthening its role as a youth-focused destination

The project serves as a physical platform for youth entrepreneurship and empowerment within Iskandar Malaysia, translating social ambition into an accessible commercial ecosystem. Conceived as a cluster of low-rise commercial pavilions, it is organised around shared courtyards and plazas to form a cohesive, human-scaled environment that encourages movement, interaction and discovery.Each pavilion accommodates flexible commercial uses including retail, cafés, offices and creative spaces, while bold rectilinear forms in vibrant colours operate as gateways, visual linkages and orientation markers across the site. Architecturally, a hierarchy of expressive rectilinear volumes and raw industrial textures is energised by strong colour accents, reflecting the creativity and evolving spirit of youth.Interstitial courtyards and plazas unfold between the pavilions as open stages for activities and social exchange, with covered walkways stitching the development into a continuous commercial experience. A five-storey observation tower, composed of stacked rectilinear forms, anchors the project as a distinctive landmark and identity.
